If your plans include refurbishing your home, it’s time to actually make a plan to stay on track and on budget.
Budget. Decide what your overall budget is for the entire renovation of your home project. Include everything you plan to do from plumbing and electrical to new lighting and new fixtures.
Research. Do your research! Check around town for price comparisons on fixtures, doors, and even lighting. Research the type of paint you plan to use and the professionals to do the job.
Storage. Renovating your home is a great time to plan for decluttering. You can do this by building storage into your overall plans. As you remodel your kitchen, add additional cabinets and other ways that maximize the space. Add storage options to bathrooms, closets or even hallways. You can reuse old cabinets by simply restoring them or find new to you ones at a local reuse store.
Windows. Add more light by adding windows or creating larger ones within your home by combining smaller ones in some rooms to make a beautiful picture window. If it’s not in the budget to redo windows, you can change the look and feel of a room by painting the windows a shade lighter than the rest of the room.
Bathrooms. When renovating your bathroom, definitely shop around for quality products like toilets, vanities, sinks and showers. You can also save some money by repainting cabinets and even your toilet.
Floor. Shop around for the best type of flooring for your lifestyle. Be sure to ask about maintenance requirement and durability. If you are unsure about installation, build hiring a professional into your budget.
Renovation requires setting a goal and having a vision of what you want. We’re here to help with any questions you might have about the electrical, heating and air conditioning or plumbing portions of your plans.
