It’s that time of year again! The flowers are blooming, the weather is warming, baseball is beginning and your plumbing is ready to be checked for growing issues.
Here are some tips for making sure your plumbing is in tip-top shape this Spring:
Drips and Leaks. Check faucets for any dripping or leaking. By catching leaky faucets early, you can save yourself a lot of money and hassle down the road. Check toilets and takes for hidden leaks and cracks.
Water valves and shower heads.Check and exercise water valves underneath sinks and toilets and make sure your toilets are flushing correctly. Clean all of the mineral deposits from your shower heads to ensure they are running freely.
Appliances.Check the temperature on your water heater to make sure it is not above 120 degrees. Consider replacing your water heater if it is more than fifteen years old. Have your water heater drained and maintained to extend the life.
Check your dishwasher, washing machine and ice makers to ensure that lines and operation are still in good working order, especially if they are over ten years old.
Drains, gutters and downspouts. Pour water down infrequently used drains to ensure they are still running freely and are not clogged. Make sure gutters, outdoor drains and downspouts are all clear from debris and yes, even birds’ nests.
