Think You May Have a Leak in Your Bathroom….But Can’t See It?

If a leak is left unattended, it can cause serious and costly water damage in your bathroom. Here are some signs that you may have a leak:

 

Mildew or mold

Mildew and mold thrive in moist, dark areas and pipes in the walls or under flooring are the perfect places for it to start. If see mildew or mold no matter how many times you clean, you may have a leak.

Damaged paint

If your paint on the walls is blistered, it could mean a leak is present. Steam from hot water alone shouldn’t cause paint to blister on the walls.

Damaged walls

Warping or staining of the walls is a good sign that a leak is present.

Damaged flooring

A bathroom really suffers from damage unless there’s a leak or you’ve allowed water to sit on it for an extended period of time. If the floor is buckling, cracking or staining, the chances are high you have a leak.

Damaged ceiling

A stained or sagging ceiling is a good sign of water damage from a leak. The stain will appear brown or dark in color.

Smell

If, no matter how much you clean, theres’a stagnate smell of old water, you likely have a leak as that is water that wasn’t given a chance to dry.
