Consider your purpose. Why are you deciding to remodel your kitchen? Are you looking to update your cooking space, cabinets and plumbing? Or are you looking to completely overhaul, changing the space entirely to create a whole new kitchen? Before you even get started, determine what exactly it is that you’re trying to accomplish.

The budget. Once you’ve thought about your purpose, you will need to create a budget. Think about your budget very carefully. Having a well thought out budget will help you prioritize and choose the best course of action when it comes to appliances, cabinets, and faucets.

The plan. A kitchen remodel is a huge undertaking! Once you decide what kind of kitchen you want, then you can begin the planning stage. What kinds of appliances do you want? Do you want a gourmet kitchen, entertaining kitchen, family-centric or all of the above!

As you proceed with your planning, you will also need to determine if your plumbing and wiring need to be updated or moved to accommodate your new kitchen and all that comes with it.

If you decide to move the plumbing or the electrical, you will need to consult with a professional before you do so in order to ensure that you know what exactly is necessary for your new appliances and what work needs to be done. This is not necessarily something you want to take on as a do-it-yourself part of the project.
